
The U.S. Coast Guard will host a two-day family event at Schwiebert Riverfront Park, Rock Island, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20 and 21.
Coast Guard officials will be at the event to give demonstrations and share career opportunities with the public.
Some of the scheduled events include:
- Helicopter search and rescue demonstrations: 2 p.m. Friday and 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
- Coast Guard Honor Guard Drill demos: 11:50 a.m. Friday and 12:20 p.m. Saturday.
- Other events during the two days will include: Response boat crews, K-9 teams, culinary demonstrations, members from the Coast Guard Gaming team and Coast Guard Museum exhibits.
Adm. Kevin Lunday, Coast Guard vice commandant, is scheduled to attend the event.
Coast Guard personnel will be available to discuss career paths, including active duty, reserve, officer, and enlisted opportunities.Â
