Ascentra named Best-in-Class by Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., one of the world’s largest insurance brokerage, risk management and consulting firms, has named Ascentra Credit Union a Best-in-Class Employer for 2023 based on the results from Gallagher’s 2023 U.S. Benefits & Strategy Benchmarking Survey.

Ascentra stood out among other employers in nine categories related to benefits and compensation, wellbeing, turnover rate, workforce engagement, human resources technology, healthcare costs, financial well-being, communications and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Of more than 4,000 companies surveyed nationwide, 471 were selected and Ascentra was one of 36 credit unions named.

“Listening, caring, doing what’s right is the mission statement of our credit union. It is ingrained in everything we do,” Linda Andry, Ascentra’s president and CEO, said in a news release announcing the recognition. “Investing in the financial, physical and emotional well-being of our employees provides an environment for our staff where they can learn, grow and further the people helping people mission of the credit union.”

U.S. organizations are ranked based on answers to how they support their employees physical, emotional, career and financial well-being, the release said. Ascentra stood out as an organization committed to their staff and strategic approach to benefits, human resources and compensation, which inclusively engages and motivates employees.

“Today’s workforce is changing,” said Matthew DeBisschop, Ascentra’s vice president of Human Resources. “That’s why it’s important for businesses to proactively think about retaining employees and what it takes to keep them engaged in supporting the company. Our leverage is through the positive work environment we create and by how we provide for them so they can provide for their families in return.”
