UI Health Care will sponsor a Mini Medical School in Davenport on Monday, Feb. 19, to highlight the connection between cancer and obesity rates.
The UI Carver College of Medicine’s interactive program — which will be held at Birchwood Fields Learning, 4620 E. 53rd St. No. 256, Davenport — will unravel ground-breaking discoveries and hot research topics in an easy-to-understand format, according to a news release from the University of Iowa.
Designed to help the public gain a better understanding of how biomedical discoveries translate into treatments and care, the event will give an overview of how different factors — including weight and lifestyle choices — can play a role in a person’s cancer outcomes, specifically as they relate to breast cancer, the release states.
While the program is free and open to the public, advance registration is required through this website.
Speakers include Iowa Assistant Professors Sarah Nash and Erin Talbert, and Associate Professor Michael Wendt.
