Rock Island Rotary Reindeer Ramble is Dec. 3

The Rock Island Rotary Reindeer Ramble 5K Run/Walk returns to the bike path in Rock Island on Sunday, Dec. 3.

Costumes and holiday outfits are encouraged for the race, which begins at 9 a.m. at Schwiebert Riverfront Park, according to a news release. Awards will be given to the top three male and female overall participants as well as age group categories.

The festivities also will include a post-race party with hot cocoa, pie and pastries.

This year’s race is dedicated in memory to Rotarian Mary Fislar, who also served as the previous Reindeer Ramble co-director for 30 years. She was an avid, enthusiastic runner who participated in more than 400 road races, and also was elected to the Quad City Senior Olympics Hall of Fame for runners in 2021, according to the release.

Registration is $25 through Sunday, Nov. 19, and $30 thereafter. T-shirts are guaranteed to those who have preregistered, according to the release. Packet pickup and race-day registration will run 7:30-8:45 a.m. Dec. 3 at the nearby Holiday Inn, 226 17th St., Rock Island.

All race proceeds will benefit Rock Island Rotary programs for youth and the partnership with Earl Hanson Elementary in Rock Island.
