Shop Iowa, a statewide e-commerce marketplace initiative of the Iowa Economic Development Authority, invites consumers to celebrate Iowa retailers by participating in ‘Shop Iowa Day’ on Wednesday, Oct. 11.
The second annual Shop Iowa Day shines a spotlight on small businesses across the state on the platform and offers special promotions for consumers while making it easy to shop locally ahead of the holiday season.
“Every purchase made on Shop Iowa goes directly to supporting small businesses, who are such an important part of our local economies and communities,” Debi Durham, director of IEDA and Iowa Finance Authority, said in a news release.
“The marketplace has made a positive impact on local retailers in all 99 counties and will continue to do so as customers from all over discover the great products offered by Iowa’s local retailers.”
Launched in August 2020, Shop Iowa offers a convenient way to support local retailers through a one-stop shop. It also serves as an additional revenue stream for businesses already familiar with e-commerce while providing an opportunity to help businesses take their first step into selling online with support from Member Marketplace, Inc., the Iowa small business team that manages the platform.
On Wednesday, the Shop Iowa marketplace will offer sitewide discounts on everything from apparel to wall decor and everything in between. By supporting Iowa small businesses on this day, online shoppers can enjoy:
- Discounts to save 30% for all purchases using a coupon code to be posted on Wednesday, Oct. 11.
- A chance to win a $500 Shop Iowa shopping spree grand prize, or one of four additional Shop Iowa gift cards (no purchase necessary, must be an Iowa resident).
- Additional one-day markdowns from small businesses across the state.
- $5 Shop Iowa gift card for every $25 gift card purchased.
- Free shipping specials by select business and local pick-up where available.
Promotions will run all day Oct. 11 until 11:59 p.m., and early access deals will also start at 6 p.m. Oct. 10 for Shop Iowa email and text list subscribers. Shoppers can sign up for text alerts to receive promotions and unlock 30% off an order.
