WIU, Knack Tutoring partner to support business, tech students

Western Illinois University’s College of Business and Technology is partnering with Knack Tutoring to provide CBT students with free, on-demand tutoring services beginning this fall, according to a WIU news release.

Peer tutors will undergo comprehensive training accredited by the College Reading and Learning Association to ensure students receive unparalleled academic support, the release states.

“We strongly believe that the Knack peer-tutoring platform will empower our students, foster personal growth and support students’ academic success in business and technology fields,” Western’s CBT Dean Craig Conrad said in the release.

“By supporting student retention, peer tutoring will help the WIU College of Business and Technology achieve its goal of preparing the next generation of business and technology innovators to thrive in an evolving, interconnected global economic environment,” he added.

The partnership also will grant CBT students access to a network of on-demand professional tutors. This dual support system has been carefully designed to address students’ diverse academic needs and ensure they receive help when they need it, WIU said.

“Connecting our students to on-demand, around-the-clock, peer-driven tutoring has great potential for increasing academic support when and where they need it the most,” WIU Director of Business Advising Sara Lytle said in the release.

Peer tutors also will receive payments, which will enhance professional development opportunities for WIU students and contribute to on-campus economic development, the release states.
