Join the Paul & Dale’s Hack N’ Give Back golf outing

Paul & Dale

Registration for participants and sponsors is now open for Paul & Dale’s Hack N’ Give Back golf outing coming up on Monday, Sept. 25, at Palmer Hills Golf Course, Bettendorf.

The outing honors the late Paul Lensmeyer and Dale Owen who each led Ascentra as presidents and CEOs. Mr. Lensmeyer died in 2013, and Mr. Owen died in November 2020. Both men were driving forces not only at the credit union but also in their community, in downtown Bettendorf and beyond. In fact, Mr. Owen helped establish the new Downtown Bettendorf Organization.

Earlier this summer, the new Be The Light Park opened at 1032 State St., Bettendorf, to honor Mr. Owen, and a dedication ceremony served as a tribute to both Ascentra leaders.

Following Mr. Lensmeyer’s death in 2013, Ascentra’s leadership formed the Ascentra Credit Union Foundation, according to a news release. In 2015, it held the inaugural Paul Lensmeyer Golf Outing to raise money for the foundation, which seeks to improve the quality of life for the Ascentra’s members and further philanthropic outreach by enhancing youth development, expanding credit education opportunities, fostering community development and more.

When Mr. Owen died in 2020, the Lensmeyer family sought to include Mr. Owen and his family in the outing, too, as the two men were not just colleagues, but good friends.

Now, the event honors both men and their love of golf while forging camaraderie, building relationships, having fun, hacking around and raising funds for a good cause, the release states.

Registration — ranging from $100-$400 — includes a boxed lunch, golf, cart and awards reception with a meal provided by A Guy and a Grill. A cash bar also will be available. Sponsorships for the event, which range from $300-$2,500, also are available.
