Open Bay Auto  – a business that combines an auto repair shop, coffee/snack shop, library and nail saloon all under one roof – will host a public grand opening from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 16.

That new business is at 807 13th St., East Moline, and co-owned by Wendy and Chris Hermann  of LeClaire with Wendy Hermann being the majority owner.

During the grand opening, people can meet the owners and tour the shop. Plus, enter to win a Bogg Bag with a take-home nail set, t-shirt, and baked treats.

“We’re excited to welcome the community, show you around, and celebrate this new chapter with you. Bring a friend and stop by;  we can’t wait to see you there,” according to a message on the Open Bay Auto Facebook page.

Open Bay Auto will be open for business starting Monday, May 18. The business hours will be 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays; 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. The business will be closed on Sundays. The phone number is (319) 541-9259.

“We set out to build a space that feels different from the moment you walk in,” Wendy Hermann says. “Auto repair has a reputation for being intimidating, and it shouldn’t be. Too many people have stories of feeling taken advantage of or left in the dark. We built this business on trust, transparency, and comfort so every customer feels informed, respected, and at ease.”

“The nail salon side of our business is actually rooted in a long-standing idea. When my husband, Chris, and his sister were both in school for their trades, auto repair and cosmetology, they had this simple thought: What if someone getting their oil changed could also get their nails done or a haircut while they wait? That idea stuck with him for years. When the opportunity came to open our own space, it just made sense to bring it to life. At the end of the day, this is about creating an experience where people feel taken care of rather than taken advantage of.”
