MUSCATINE, Iowa – People in this community now have a new place to call home.
The Scenic View Apartments are now open to residents. The apartment complex – located in two three-story buildings at 3616 and 3612 Palms Drive, offers a total of 24 apartments with 12 units in each building. All apartments are two-bedroom units.
“This feels like home to many people. … I want to provide good housing to the community,” said Adam Gillitzer, owner of the Scenic View Apartments, shortly before a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new apartment complex on Friday, May 8.

That ceremony attracted about 30 people from the Muscatine business community to help welcome the new apartments.
One of those at the ceremony was Dr. Brad Bark, Muscatine mayor and president and CEO of the Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
“This is what we’ve needed for a long time. … I am super excited to get this open,” said Dr. Bark, adding that new housing is one of the top needs of the community.
That new housing is already nearly half full. Mr. Gillitzer some tenants moved in early in the year, five more moved in this month and at least one more will move in next month. Plus, he is showing the apartments to several possible tenants this week.
Some of the features of the apartments include:
- Washer and dryer in each unit.
- Central heat and air conditioning.
- Private patio.
- Pet friendly apartments.
- Off-street parking.
- High-speed internet available.
- Fire suppression system.
- Rent starting at $1,395. (Go here for more information on becoming a tenant.)
But, for some residents, the best feature is the quiet atmosphere.
“I had one lady who lives here said that during the storms we had about a month ago that she didn’t hear anything,” said Mr. Gillitzer.
He added that the quiet atmosphere of the apartment complex is largely due to the quality construction, stating the two buildings are “essentially hurricane proof.”
The Scenic View Apartments are located next to a farm field on its south side. The Palms 10 movie theater and Scooter’s Coffee shop are located on the north side.
Friday’s ceremony also included a tour of two of the vacant apartment units. After looking over apartments 101 and 102, people said they were impressed with the units.
“We need more apartments like this for young professionals in the community. … This will be great for them and the community,” said Trish Hahn-White, a real estate professional from Muscatine and one of the people who attended the Friday ceremony.
