LECLAIRE, Iowa – The Pebble Creek Golf Course is getting new life with new owners.

Mark Pattison and Kirk Miller of Solon, Iowa, became the new owners of Pebble Creek this week. The ownership transition became official on Wednesday, March 4.

To help launch the new era for Pebble Creek, an open house will be held at the golf course from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 28. Weather permitting, the golf course is expected to open for the season on Wednesday, April 15.

Pebble Creek Golf Course is a nine-hole, par-36 public course in LeClaire, established in 2005. Located at 3851 Forest Grove Drive, it features a 3,419-yard layout with scenic, tree-lined fairways and ponds.

I was very excited to hear that the golf course had been purchased and will be open soon. It’s an important part of the Pebble Creek development and the reason that many families purchased homes there,” said Cindy Bruhn, LeClaire tourism manager. “It’s great to have a golf course in LeClaire city limits again as an amenity for our residents and an attraction for visitors. Restoring the Pebble Creek Clubhouse to its original purpose will be nice, too. We are anxious to see it open and thriving.”

Mr. Pattison said he was attracted to Pebble Creek because it’s “an absolutely outstanding and beautiful nine-hole golf course.” He was also drawn to LeClaire because it’s a growing, thriving community that reminds him of his hometown of Solon.

“Our goal is to create a warm and inviting atmosphere,” he added.

Another big goal for Pebble Creek is to make the golf facility a semi-private club that is open to the public, but also has a membership. Pebble Creek will also offer leagues and tournaments to create a high-quality golfing experience.

Among his plans for the course, Mr. Pattison said he will develop a membership program, add golf leagues, redo the landscaping, update 6,000 square feet of cart paths, refresh the turf and bring in new golf carts. Though the clubhouse is in “great shape,” he said he plans to make some interior updates as well.

Even though these projects and goals will take a lot of work, Mr. Pattison is used to it. He is also owner of the Lake MacBride Golf Club in Solon.

Lake MacBride is a nine-hole, par 36 course measuring almost 3,200 yards from the back tees and around 2,900 from the middle white tees. It features tree-lined fairways and ponds that come into play on several holes.

In addition to golf, the Solon man has an extensive business background.  He spent 16 years in sales for the biotech pharmaceutical industry. He is also the founder and COO of Buck Creek Distributing, a specialized supplier and distributor for the craft brewing and distilling industries, based in Solon. He has also built several successful companies, including North Corridor Property Investments, LLC. NCPI was established in 2003 and has built numerous custom homes as well as performed land development all over the corridor area.
