Clinton’s Bald Eagle Watch set for Saturday, Jan. 31

    CLINTON, Iowa — The 42nd annual Clinton Bald Eagle Watch is set for Saturday, Jan. 31, offering the public a free opportunity to view the majestic birds and attend educational programs.

    The event is hosted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Clinton Community College, Grow Clinton and the Stewards of the Upper Mississippi River Refuge.

    Indoor activities, including educational programs, environmental exhibits and live birds of prey, will take place at Clinton Community College, 1000 Lincoln Blvd. The exhibits will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a program schedule as follows:

    • 9:30 a.m. — Welcome to Eagle Watch, Kevin Zidarich (USACE) and Jacquelynn Albrecht (USFWS).
    • 10 a.m. — Live Birds of Prey Program, Clinton County Conservation.
    • 11 a.m. — Bald Eagle Tracking Presentation, Jeremiah Haas.
    • Noon — Live Birds of Prey Program, Wings and Talons.
    • 1 p.m. — Celebrating Bald Eagles, Ed Britton (USFWS).

    Food and refreshments will be available for purchase at the college.

    Outdoor eagle viewing will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Lock and Dam 13 in Fulton, Illinois, located off Highway 84. A warming area and free light refreshments, while supplies last, will be available at the outdoor location.
