Ascentra Credit Union will award a total of $15,000 in scholarships to 15 student members for the 2026 school year to help cover costs of postsecondary education.
All entries must be submitted by the end of the day on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. Official rules and the application are available at ascentra.org/scholarships.
The program includes three categories, each awarding five $1,000 scholarships:
- High school students planning to enter college.
- Non-traditional students, age 19 or older, planning to attend higher education.
- Members entering vocational school or college with a trade program.
Students can apply online at ascentra.org/scholarships. Traditional and non-traditional applicants are judged on their essays, resumes, awards, extracurricular activities, volunteer service and work experience.
The 500-word essay question for traditional and non-traditional students is: “Why is building good credit important for young adults, and what services or guidance could a credit union provide to help students build a strong financial future?”
Vocational or trades scholarship entrants must submit a letter of recommendation and answer a question in less than 75 words: “How do you plan to use the scholarship if awarded?”
“We know how tough it can be for young members to afford college or job training these days,” said Linda Andry, Ascentra Credit Union President and CEO. “That’s why we’re excited to offer $15,000 in scholarships to give our student members a little extra help as they pursue their goals.”
Previous recipients may apply every year they are enrolled in an accredited institution of higher learning or trade.
