Bettendorf Police will add something pink to their blue uniforms in honor of October being observed as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to help raise awareness and money for the local nonprofits doing cancer-related work.
To help support the cause with the Bettendorf Police, purchase a pink patch for $5, along with other merchandise. All proceeds go to the UnityPoint Health Trinity Health Foundation to help provide free mammograms for those unable to pay for this potentially life-saving procedure.
The police department is not the only one supporting this cause. Anyone can purchase a pink patch for $5 at the Bettendorf Police Department, 1609 State St., or at the gift shop at UnityPoint Health Trinity – Bettendorf, 4500 Utica Ridge Road.
“BPD’s pink patch is our pledge to stand with those affected by breast cancer,” Bettendorf Police Chief Doug Scott said.
“With our patch, we honor survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and support the fight for a cure. As police officers, we serve to protect, and that includes supporting the health and well-being of our community in every way we can,” he said.
