Riverine Walk program digs into Tapestry Farms

    River Action will host a Riverine Walk on Saturday, Sept. 6, featuring Tapestry Farms, focusing on regenerative farming practices. The event, part of River Action’s Explore the River Series, will highlight sustainable methods for building soil health and feeding the community.

    The walk is scheduled from 9-10:30 a.m. Participants should meet at 2005 Main St., Davenport. Admission is $10, and free for River Action members.

    Ann McGlynn, executive director and founder of Tapestry Farms, and Ailson Niebuhr, seasonal farm manager, will present on the farm’s use of cover crops, tarping and crop rotation. Following the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to tour one of Tapestry Farms’ 10 locations. The tour may include uneven terrain.

    The Explore the River Series is part of River Action’s Summer Education Program, offering participants a firsthand look at the wildlife, history, culture and geography of the Mississippi River and the Quad Cities. River Action is dedicated to protecting and restoring the Mississippi River, fostering cultural and economic activities that highlight the river, and promoting sustainable practices to enhance the river and shared RiverWay environment.
