The Rock Island County Democratic Party’s 56th Annual “Salute to Labor Picnic” will be from noon to 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1 at the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council, 424 Carpenter Court, in East Moline.
The Labor Day celebration, which will feature a number of state and federal Illinois Democratic candidates, will be held – rain or shine, a news release from the political party said.
“The Rock Island Democratic Party takes this important day to celebrate all of the contributions the men and women of organized labor have made – and continue to make – to the Quad Cities
and surrounding counties,” Illinois state Sen. Mike Halpin, D-Rock Island, said in the release.
“Organized labor helped build the middle class across the Quad Cities and across America,” said Mr. Halpin, who also chairs the county’s Democratic Party organization. “We celebrate this tradition of saying ‘thanks’ to our friends and families because they are at the heart of America and the Democratic Party,” he added.
Picnic tickets, which will be available at the event, are $7 for children under 12 and $15 for anyone 12 and above. Those who wish to attend free of charge without the lunch are welcome to do so.
