The yellow cabs have hit the roads in the Quad Cities. The cabs are getting people to their destinations and setting up transportation agreements with area businesses. That’s the word from the leader of the Yellow Cab Co., which started doing business in the Quad Cities a few days ago with a fleet of six vehicles.Passengers who need a cab ride from Yellow Cab can call (563) 723-8000.And the company is off to a fast start in the region, Scott Johnson, president and CEO of the Yellow Cab Co., told the Quad Cities Regional Journal on Wednesday, April 23. “The early response has been fantastic. We have taken over 30 trips, have had a couple new accounts set up as well. Hotel Black Hawk is our first major business account, with another business coming on board today,” he said.He added that cab business to and from the Quad Cities International Airport has been “ecstatic.”So far, the locally-owned company has six vehicles in the QC, but it is looking to grow and add more drivers.“We have independent drivers here at Yellow Cab. We have three local drivers signed on and a few from the Des Moines area that have come up to assist us with getting this off the ground,” Mr. Johnson said. “We have over 60 Independent drivers with the Yellow Cab Company in the Des Moines and surrounding areas.” Company officials said Yellow Cab Co. is looking for more drivers in the region. Go here to apply to be a driver, or contact Josh Jackson, the company’s operations manager, at (515) 256-4507.Currently, Yellow Cab also has a 50-cab fleet in Des Moines. Some of the larger accounts in that region are Polk County, Des Moines International Airport, local hospitals, hotels and many other businesses.Last year, Yellow Cab provided more than 108,000 trips in Des Moines and central Iowa.Mr. Johnson said the company decided to expand to the Quad Cities after hearing many comments from people and businesses in the region about the need for a transportation provider.“We take a lot of customers to the Quad Cities from our local vendors here in Des Moines. I reached out to the Quad Cities (International) Airport, talked with and joined the Quad Cities Chamber, met and talked with a lot of local businesses. They all had the same message: Good dependable transportation is in dire need in the Quad Cities,” he said.
