The Rock Island Community Foundation has announced eight 2025 grant awards totaling $131,255 from the Keith & Rosemary Woodward Charitable Trust.
Rosemary Woodward was a long-time Rock Island resident who gave of her time and resources to make her community a better place, the foundation said in a Thursday, Oct. 30, news release.
Ms. Woodward’s love of community was reflected by the generous gifts she extended to charitable organizations during her lifetime and upon her death in 2019. She had a special place in her heart for organizations based within the City of Rock Island.
As a result, she directed the residue of her estate to the Rock Island Community Foundation to help fund in perpetuity eight Rock Island-based organizations that enrich the community’s quality of life. The fund is designated as the Keith and Rosemary Woodward Charitable Gift Fund.
The 2025 grant recipients and their awards are:
Christian Care – Program operations, $30,000.
Niabi Zoo – Zoo public address system, $7,000.
Quad City Botanical Center – Plants on the Bus, $10,000. (Third year of a $30,000 grant).
Rock Island Library Foundation – Capital campaign, $16,500. (Third year of a $50,000 grant).
Rock Island-Milan Education Foundation – Anatomage table, $24,000. (First year of a $50,000 grant).
Rock Island Parks & Recreation – Saukie Clubhouse renovation and Stonehouse, $25,000. (Second year of a $50,000 grant).
UnityPoint VNA – Therapy chairs for hospice patients, $10,755.
YWCA of the Quad Cities – Capital campaign, $16,500. (Third year of a $50,000 grant).
