Western Illinois University (WIU) will take part in GivingTuesday on Nov. 28, a global movement that encourages philanthropy and generosity to support meaningful causes.
In 2015, WIU joined the GivingTuesday initiative, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to inspire generosity worldwide. “GivingTuesday is an opportunity for our friends and alumni to invest in the future of our students and our university while continuing the tradition of philanthropy at Western,” WIU Director of Annual Giving Tim Hallinan said in a news release.
“Many friends and alumni use GivingTuesday as an opportunity to make a year-end, tax-deductible gift, but their contributions are much more meaningful to Western and our students.
“When Leathernecks unite in their generosity on GivingTuesday, they fuel the dreams of tomorrow’s leaders and change-makers while inspiring campus-wide feelings of gratitude, goodwill and institutional pride. It’s a powerful reminder of the enduring impact of our Leatherneck community.”
Through this program at WIU, individuals and organizations can direct their gifts to support any scholarship, program or initiative at the university. By participating in GivingTuesday, WIU supporters play a crucial role in shaping the future and empowering the next generation of leaders.
