WIU to host ‘Stress Week’ events

Western Illinois University-Quad Cities will host a range of events and activities for “Manage Your Stress Week” from Monday to Thursday, Dec. 5-8 – a WIU-QC tradition that occurs the week before final exams.

WIU-QC Student Services, Student Government Association and various student organizations collaborate to offer relaxing and enjoyable activities to wind down and support students, faculty and staff.

“We are excited to offer this week of activities for the campus,” said Student Services Manager Shelbee Bradley. “By engaging in fun, stress-relieving activities, the hope is to increase study performance and impact outcomes in a positive way.”

Events include:

  • Monday, Dec. 5; 8-10 a.m., enjoy a self-serve coffee bar and delicious Donut Delite treat with WIU Student Government Association in Riverfront Hall. From 4-4:45 p.m., join WIU Counseling Association for “Make Your Own Stress Ball” in Building A to C Bridge.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 6; 10 a.m.-noon, snack on popcorn with motivational notes with Student Services in the Riverfront Hall Lobby.  From 2-4 p.m., visit with QCCAN Therapy Dogs in the Riverfront Hall Reception.  And from 6-6:45 p.m., grab a hot chocolate and a cookie with the WIU Counseling Association in Building A to C Bridge. 
  • Wednesday, Dec. 7; 11 a.m.- 1 p.m., visit with QCCAN Therapy Dogs in Riverfront Hall Reception;  6-6:30 p.m., participate in Yoga with Nikki with the Counseling Association in the Fitness Center Building C, Room 2402.
  • Thursday, Dec. 8; 10 a.m.-2 p.m., calm down and create crafts with Jill in the Riverfront Hall Atrium. From noon-2 p.m., indulge in a pudding bar with Student Services in Riverfront Hall Atrium and from 2-4 p.m., participate in a Paint Party with WIU Psychology Club in Building C Atrium.
