WIU to host employer town hall

Western Illinois University, in collaboration with Quad Cities college and university career centers, is offering a free summer event for area employers from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, in Room 103/104 in QC Riverfront Hall on the Moline WIU campus.

“WIU is proud to collaborate with other Quad Cities colleges and universities in hopes of gaining new connections throughout the community and bringing new opportunities to students,” said Audrey Adamson, director of WIU’s Center for Career Preparation and Employer Engagement.

Employers from organizations across the Quad Cities region will have the opportunity to connect with students and gain insights on how Quad Cities higher education can prepare students for future careers.

“Hosting an Employer Town Hall allows us the opportunity to share what is happening with internships and recruiting as we prepare for a new school year and joint career fairs,” said Ms. Adamson. “This event also allows employers to explore the WIU-QC campus and see the resources available to the community.”

The agenda includes:

  • 9-9:30 a.m.: Employers check in, enjoy coffee and mingle with other organizations.
  • 9:30-10 a.m.: Sponsors will host a career center panel for all to attend.
  • 10-10:30 a.m.: Students from all educational sponsors will host a panel discussion.
  • 10:30-11 a.m.: Event wraps up with table topics, internship discussions, recruiting and more.
