WIU recognized as affordable among Illinois universities

    Western Illinois University (WIU) with campuses in Macomb and Moline, has been ranked among Illinois’ most affordable higher education institutions for 2024-2025 by The Affordable Degree Guide.

    The guide reviews tuition costs across 20 public and private universities in the state.

    The 2025 report indicates the average tuition for a bachelor’s degree program in Illinois is $82,594. The four-year institution was highlighted for its competitive tuition rates, strong academic reputation and diverse degree offerings.

    In addition to traditional programs, the university offers 13 fully online bachelor’s degree programs, providing flexible and affordable options. Online delivery costs range from $343 to $601 per credit hour, with a total tuition cost of $41,160 to $72,120 for the required 120 credits.

    The Affordable Degree Guide also reviewed master’s programs across Illinois, noting an average tuition cost of $28,936.
