The Vibrant Arena at The Mark in downtown Moline now has a big sign to show off its new name.

Workers with the Lange Sign Group, Davenport, spent much of Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 23-24, installing the large Vibrant Arena sign and logo at the top of the building.

The Lange crew spent much of Monday removing signage of the previous TaxSlayer Center name from the civic center. The new Vibrant Arena sign went up Tuesday and appeared to be complete by late afternoon.

The big, new lighted sign measures 61 feet wide and the logo is eight feet tall, Dan Lange, of the Lange Sign Group of Davenport, told the QCBJ on Wednesday, Jan. 25.

Arena officials said the new sign has 489 light modules that have three LEDs each, for a total of 1,467 LEDs.

The sign marks part of the transition to the arena’s new name. A 10-year, $4 million deal laced with unmonetized extras was announced Aug. 18 to replace the TaxSlayer Center name with Vibrant Arena at The Mark, effective Sept. 1.

“We don’t want to just drive by and see our name on the building,” Matt McCombs, Vibrant Credit Union president and CEO, told the QCBJ in August. “This is more of a partnership. It’s about all the things that we can do to help modernize and revitalize the feeling on the inside.”

Some of those extras include a reimagined building entryway featuring the colors of Vibrant’s exploding pinwheel logo splashed across the massive windows on the front of the building facing River Drive.

“All the ideas we have to refresh the building and keep it looking new and the envy of all the other arenas of our type in the country,” Mr. McCombs said in the earlier interview. “People still come in here and think the building is only a few years old. We’ve been able to keep it up well, and now we’re going to make it even better, and update it and add some new bells and whistles that are very cool for guests to enjoy.”
