That ceremony not only showcased Velasquez Pro Roofing, which has been in business for about 10 months, but it also unveiled the company’s new showroom and business offices at Old Town Shopping Center, 903 E. Kimberly Road. (Owned by the husband-wife team of Jenner and Erlinda Velasquez, the company is located between Keller Insurance and Healing Touch Massage Studio at the Davenport strip mall.)Ms. Velasquez said the company moved there in November, but work on transforming the storefront into a showroom and offices continued until almost ribbon-cutting time on Tuesday.“It’s been a long 10 months. … It’s been hard, but we are here,” she told the crowd gathered.That new showroom features displays to show off roofing materials, and all the comforts of home, such as a fireplace, couch and other furniture.“We appreciate your investment in the community. … We’re just thrilled for you,” Deanna Jensen-Valliere, the chamber’s manager of membership engagement, said during the ceremony.While the company just started doing business last year, it has been a dream that has been years in the making. Mr. Velasquez, who began doing roofing work 10 years ago at age 14, has been working to open his own business for years.The employees with the company do a variety of jobs including siding and gutter installation jobs.Velasquez Pro Roofing employs about 15 roofers, a sales manager, and the husband-wife owners working at the company.
