UScellular has donated $5,000 worth of sports equipment to HAVlife Quad Cities through its Gift of Connection program, the wireless carrier announced in a news release.

To support HAVlife’s mission to prevent lost potential through athletics, UScellular donated numerous items including gymnastics mats, footballs, football pants, junior golf club sets, range targets and boxing equipment.

“HAVlife Quad Cities does so much for the community, so we want to help them deliver the much-needed support they provide with a donation of sports equipment,” Macey Bergman, UScellular’s retail store manager in Moline, said in the release.

“At UScellular, we strive to unleash the power of our communities and are excited to help connect people to what matters most this holiday season.”

HAVlife’s donation is among 40 Gift of Connection donations to nonprofit organizations across the U.S. made in honor of wireless carrier’s 40th anniversary. The company is assisting organizations that bring people and communities together through the arts, music, sports and food with needed supplies, according to the release.

“UScellular’s Gift of Connection will assist hundreds of area youth. You can’t play if (you) don’t have the equipment,” Kimberly Guy, president of the HAVlife Foundation, said in the release.

“This equipment will be used over many years and allows young students to pursue their passion while preventing lost potential. That is what HAVlife is all about.”

Since 2009, UScellular has granted more than $35 million through monetary donations, technology resources and experiences to nonprofit organizations across the country, according to the release.

UScellular also invites the community to participate in the Gift of Connection through a donation drive at its retail locations. Supporters may donate new sports equipment, art supplies or family board games. For more information and to find the nearest UScellular location, visit uscellular.com
