
UnityPoint Health – Quad Cities President Shawn Morrow has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2024 “160 Community Hospital CEOs to know” list, the hospital group announced recently.
According to Becker’s, one of the fastest growing media platforms in the industry and a source for health care decision-makers, community hospital CEOs work on improving patient care, services and hospital facilities through strategic planning. They and their teams engage with the community to align hospital services with local needs.
It recognized the leaders on the list for their dedication to enhancing community health, shaping a positive workforce culture, planning for the future, expanding hospital services and ensuring financial stability. UnityPoint Health said in a news release.

Mr. Morrow joined UnityPoint Health as Quad Cities market president in October 2023. There he oversees operations for all UnityPoint Health – Trinity locations in the Quad Cities region and Muscatine.
Prior to leading UnityPoint Health, he spent two years as CEO of Summit Healthcare in Arizona after serving nine years as a CEO for Intermountain Health, where he initiated strategies to improve care delivery, grow revenues and reduce costs, the release said.
160 CEOs honored
Becker’s Healthcare said it developed its CEO list based on nominations and editorial research. The Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team compiled the list which features individual profiles of all CEOs. The UnityPoint Health leader’s entry among Becker’s 160 “Community Hospital CEOs to know” (which can be found here) said:
“Mr. Morrow oversees strategic direction and resources for four community hospitals, a behavioral health center, a heart center, maternity care facilities, a nursing college, and two philanthropic foundations. UnityPoint Health–Trinity, under Mr. Morrow’s leadership boasts 348 beds and over 4,000 staff members, handling significant patient volumes annually.
“With extensive experience in health care leadership, including at Show Low, Ariz.-based Summit Healthcare and Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Health, Mr. Morrow prioritizes clinical quality improvement and sustainable healthcare practices. Since joining UnityPoint Health in 2023, he has focused on community engagement, strategic planning, and enhancing patient experiences, leveraging his expertise to navigate the evolving healthcare landscape.”
Mr. Morrow holds a master of business administration from Murray State University and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives He serves on several community boards including the Quad City Health Initiative Board and Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce Board. He is also involved in one of the local congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
