MUSCATINE, Iowa – UnityPoint Health will present Exercise and Heart Health as part of its free Heart to Heart Community Education Series on Tuesday, March 28, at 5:30 p.m. at Musser Public Library, 408 E. 2nd Street.
Wellness Strategist Teresa Pangan and Trinity Muscatine Cardiac Rehab Lead Tammy Thurston will help educate the community on heart disease prevention, treatment and heart health, including the benefits of exercise and the signs and symptoms of exercise overexertion, according to a news release.
“Your heart is one of the most vital parts of your body, so we have to take care of it,” Ms. Pangan said in a news release. “You are never too old or too young to start taking care of your heart. This series helps us communicate just how easy it can be to take those steps in the right direction.”
Attendees should dress comfortably as the instructors will lead examples of aerobic, weight training and flexibility exercises.
“Getting regular physical activity is one of the best things you can do for yourself and for your heart,” Ms. Thurston said. “Walking for just 30 minutes a day, five days a week can help lower your risk of heart disease.”
