UnityPoint Health – Trinity Bettendorf and Trinity Muscatine was recognized by the American Heart Association for their commitment to providing high-quality stroke care, adhering to research-based guidelines that lead to improved patient outcomes.
Trinity Bettendorf earned the Get With The Guidelines – Stroke GOLD PLUS with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll. Trinity Muscatine received the Get With The Guidelines – Rural Stroke GOLD Award.
Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death and a leading cause of disability in the U.S. It occurs when a blood vessel carrying oxygen and nutrients to the brain is blocked or bursts, causing brain cells to die. Early detection and treatment are crucial for improving survival, minimizing disability, and accelerating recovery.
The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines program assists hospitals nationwide in aligning patient care with the latest research- and evidence-based guidelines, ultimately minimizing long-term effects of stroke and preventing death.

Who is selected?
Hospitals qualify for the award annually by demonstrating a commitment to quality stroke care, which includes following treatment guidelines and educating patients on managing their health and recovery at home.
