“We will do the heavy lifting.”

That was the message from Jen Christensen, one of the owners of the new Two Men and a Junk Truck in Davenport, during a grand opening celebration Wednesday morning, July 30.

That business – an affiliate of the Two Men and a Truck moving service – is a full-service junk removal provider for commercial and residential customers in the Quad Cities region.

About 25 members of the business community attended the grand opening at Two Men and a Junk Truck’s location at 5000 Tremont Ave., Building 200, Suite 202. That site, located just south of the ultra-busy 53rd Street and Tremont Avenue intersection, is shared by the two sister brands – Two Men and a Truck and Two Men and a Junk Truck.

The event included a Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony and a gathering of employees and company leaders from the moving and junk removal businesses.

One of those leaders, Ms. Christensen, said business has been going well. Part of that is because since the COVID-19 pandemic many people have been getting into a de-cluttering mood and using Two Men and a Junk Truck. But, the good business also is due to the company’s professionalism, she added.

Ms. Christensen said the company’s employees go through a background check, training and have great customer service skills.

“It’s not just somebody with a pickup truck coming over and saying ‘Hi, that will be 50 bucks,’” she added.

The business team members take on everything from residential and commercial furniture to bulky items, like mattresses, pianos and appliances. “Our goal is to make decluttering easy, efficient and hassle free – whether it’s for your business or home,” according to information from the franchise company.

The customers include homeowners, property managers, Realtors and more.

The idea for the junk removal company has been in the works for years. Jeremy Lacamera, manager of the Two Men and a Truck business in Davenport, said that for years the workers with Two Men and Truck would go to homes and businesses to move big and small items. During that work, they were often asked to haul away a piece of furniture or another big item as trash.

“People are always moving and decide they have too much stuff. … They discover there’s a lot in the basement that they need to get rid of,” he added.

So a few years ago, the Two Men and a Truck business became two brands. The Two Men and a Junk Truck brand opened in the Quad Cities this past January.

Mr. Lacamera said the two-part business has about 39 employees in the Quad Cities, with seven of them assigned to the Junk Truck side.

In addition to serving the Quad Cities, the business is keeping busy with customers in Muscatine and Clinton, Iowa, as well as Galesburg, Illinois, and other nearby communities.

“Business is pretty good. …. We’re just trying to keep growing,” Mr. Lacamera added.

During the grand opening, Ms. Christensen said she wants to see Two Men and a Junk Truck expand, and make connections with local businesses that need its services.

“Two Men and a Junk Truck is more than just a haul-away company; it’s a commitment to cleaner spaces and peace of mind,” company information said.

The Tremont Avenue office for the sister businesses is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. The phone numbers are (563) 391-2635 for Two Men and a Truck, and (563) 306-5550 for Two Men and Junk Truck.
