Dozens of the nation’s top college women golfers will hit the links in the Quad Cities next week as the prestigious TPC Deere Run hosts the 29th annual National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Women’s Golf National Championship.
The tournament will begin Tuesday, May 14, and run through Friday, May 17, at TPC in Silvis.
As announced by the NAIA, the participating teams and individuals have been revealed, with 30 teams and six individual qualifiers making up the 156-player field. Among the teams vying for the championship title are reigning champions and perennial contenders, along with new faces eager to make their mark on the national stage.
“We are thrilled to once again serve as the host for the NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship,” Visit Quad Cities President and CEO Dave Herrell said in a news release. “Building on the success of last year’s event, we are excited to welcome student-athletes, administrators and fans from across the country to the Quad Cities region.”
Mr. Herrell highlighted the strategic importance of hosting the event, emphasizing its alignment with the goals of Sports QC, a private 501(c)(3) non-profit division of Visit QC. Sports QC spearheads the region’s sports tourism initiative.
The championship will kick off with the first wave teeing off at 7 a.m. Tuesday and subsequent waves following throughout the morning and afternoon.
“After two full rounds have been completed, the field will be cut, advancing the top 15 teams (plus ties) and six individuals who have not already made the cut with their teams (plus ties) to the subsequent rounds,” an NAIA representative explained.
TPC Deere Run, renowned for its challenging yet picturesque layout and the home of the John Deere Classic, will provide the perfect backdrop for the pinnacle event in NAIA women’s golf.
“We are proud of our partnership with the NAIA and grateful for their confidence in the Quad Cities,” Joan Kranovich, Visit Quad Cities vice president of Business Growth and director of Sports QC, said in the release.
“Together with our partners at St. Ambrose University, TPC Deere Run and the local community, we are committed to delivering an unparalleled student-athlete experience and for everyone involved,” she said.
