Actor Topher Grace will be at The Last Picture House on Saturday, Oct. 4, for a special screening of the 1989 satirical Hollywood film “The Big Picture.”
He will be joined by filmmakers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the co-owners of The Last Picture House in downtown Davenport, for a post-screening Q&A.
Tickets are now available to the public. The screening will be at 7 p.m.
“The Big Picture,” directed by Christopher Guest (“Waiting for Guffman”), stars Kevin Bacon, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Martin Short. The film follows film school graduate Nick Chapman (Kevin Bacon) as he navigates the complexities of Hollywood after his award-winning short film launches a promising, but ultimately challenging, career.
Mr. Grace recently starred in the A24 film “Heretic,” which was directed, written, and produced by Quad Cities natives Mr. Beck and Mr. Woods. “Heretic” garnered several award nominations, including from the Golden Globes, BAFTA, Critics’ Choice, and the Independent Spirit Awards, and grossed $60 million worldwide.
Mr. Grace gained widespread recognition as Eric Forman in the hit teen sitcom “That ’70s Show” and for his role in Steven Soderbergh’s “Traffic.” His other notable film credits include Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar,” Spike Lee’s “BlacKkKlansman,” and Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man 3.” He also recently appeared in Netflix’s series “The Waterfront” and is set to star in A24’s upcoming release “Huntington” alongside Margaret Qualley, Glen Powell, and Ed Harris.
Mr. Beck and Mr. Woods are acclaimed as the writers and creators of the global box office hit “A Quiet Place,” starring Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, which grossed over $340 million worldwide. Their credits also include writing and directing Sony Pictures’ “65,” starring Adam Driver, which debuted as the No. 1 film on Netflix, the thriller “Haunt,” and writing and producing the Stephen King adaptation “The Boogeyman” for 20th Century Studios.
