Tiphanie’s, a downtown Davenport restaurant and bakery, is closing its business.
Business owner Tiphanie Cannon announced on the company’s Facebook page late Thursday, Nov. 6, that her namesake business at 210 E. Second St. would permanently close its doors at 9 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 8.
“This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to say and do. This restaurant has been my dream, my identity, my whole heart. I fought as hard as I could — emotionally, physically, and financially — to keep it alive. But despite every effort and negotiation, we couldn’t reach a place that allowed us to stay,” Ms. Cannon wrote on Facebook.
She added: “This isn’t just a business closing. It’s the end of a chapter that shaped my life. I don’t know exactly what comes next, but I do know I’m grateful, heartbroken, and unbelievably proud of what we created here.”
Tiphanie’s – formerly known as Oh So Sweet by Tiphanie – was located at 314 Main St. for about nine years. The business moved to its present location in 2023.
When the business relocated, Ms. Cannon told the Quad Cities Regional Business Journal that the new site would offer the business more room to grow. She said the expanded space and new location offered an expanded vision for the business.
During its Oh So Sweet by Tiphanie days on Main Street, the business was primarily known as a bakery offering a wide variety of goodies. The bakery was still going strong, but it’s also offering a menu that includes breakfast sandwiches and bowls, and items for suppers. So people of the Quad Cities could have breakfast (and lunch and supper) at Tiphanie’s.
Tiphanie’s online menu features a wide variety of items, including truffle fries, turkey apple grilled cheese sandwiches, soups, salads and lots of cookies and cake. Some menu names show Ms. Cannon’s sense of humor. For instance, a kids’ menu item is called “The Can’t We Go To McDonald’s” that features two pancakes, bacon or sausage.
In Thursday’s Facebook post announcing her closure, Ms. Cannon thanked customers, employees and friends for their support over the years.
“To our customers who became friends and family: thank you. You celebrated birthdays, breakups, engagements, random Tuesdays and everything in between with us. You made this place matter.
“To my staff — past and present — you are the soul of this restaurant. You showed up through chaos, holidays, snowstorms, sold-out weekends, and quiet mornings. I love you more than you know.
“To my family and friends — thank you for holding me together, washing dishes when no one else would, and believing in me even when I couldn’t,” she wrote.
In the message, Ms. Cannon added: “Thank you for 12 years of love, laughter, martinis, cookies, and memories I will never forget.”
