The ‘Dog Days of Summer’ arrive in Muscatine this weekend

MUSCATINE, Iowa — Grab your best friend — and your two-legged friends, too — and come out to Weed Park on Saturday, Aug. 5, for It Takes A Village Animal Rescue & Resources’ annual Village Dog Days of Summer.

Sponsored by Wolfe Contracting and SSAB Iowa Inc., the nonprofit animal rescue’s third annual fundraiser will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Weed Park, 1 Park Drive.

It offers a chance to celebrate the bond between humans and animals. It will feature volunteers from The Mutt Hutt providing nail trims for $15 with proof of rabies vaccination; a pet photo booth; a Mutt Strutt; demonstrations from local trainers; adoptable animals; merchandise for sale; a raffle and 50/50 raffle; walking tacos, grilled burgers and hotdogs; a bake sale; and more.

Proceeds from the event will help It Takes A Village provide “food, supplies and medical care for our homeless animals while we work to find their FURever families,” the rescue said.
