Celebrate this Valentine’s Day with Dubai chocolates treats.
That’s the message from Tapestry Farms in Davenport.
Tapestry Farms is a nonprofit urban farm system in the Quad Cities that supports refugees and combats food insecurity. The organization uses a multi-pronged approach that includes urban farming, resource navigation, and community building to help refugees connect, contribute, and thrive in their new home.
The organization is helping refugees this season by offering small-batch Dubai chocolate bars, inspired by the flavors and textures that have made Dubai chocolate a TikTok trend and fast-growing favorite.

“Every purchase directly supports the Tapestry Farms’ model of care — creating jobs for refugee women while funding comprehensive wraparound social services, including healthcare, housing, education navigation, legal services, employment support, English class, transportation and much, much more,” according to a Tapestry Facebook announcement.
Each Dubai chocolate bar is handmade by refugees employed through the organization.

That site offers an order of Dubai chocolate bars for $25, flower bouquets for $15, and a bouquet and chocolate order for $35.
Dubai chocolate is a viral trend featuring a milk chocolate bar filled with a creamy, nutty mixture of pistachio and tahini, plus crunchy, shredded kataifi. Created by Fix Dessert Chocolatier in Dubai, its popularity exploded on TikTok in 2024, leading to widespread imitation and even a temporary pistachio shortage in the U.S.
“Dubai chocolate has an excitement and curiosity surrounding it right now,” said Ann McGlynn, executive director of Tapestry Farms. “Our team members, Fatima Hussein and Betul Qamizou, suggested we make it for friends, neighbors, and supporters to experience. It’s delicious and it’s such a joy for us to be able to share the talent and traditions that our refugee neighbors bring to our community.”
The organization is offering the chocolate bars alongside its flower bouquets, creating gift options for Valentine’s Day.
Ms. McGlynn said Tapestry has the goal of selling 200 bars and 75 bouquets this Valentine’s Day season.
“Because our Thanksgiving and year-end holiday baklava and flower sales were beyond our expectations, and now Valentine’s Day sales are going so well, we are looking at a holiday-focused model for our treats and flowers, in addition to our monthly vegetable and flower subscriptions. Watch for possibilities with Easter and Mother’s Day, for example,” she added.
As interest grows around Dubai chocolate and people see it more and more in the grocery store and at their favorite coffee shop, Tapestry Farms’ Dubai chocolate offers Quad Citians a chance to experience a new and trendy flavor while directly supporting neighbors who are beginning new lives in the Quad Cities.
