T-Mobile Awards $50,000 grant to Moline Parks and Recreation for new soccer mini-pitch

    T-Mobile recently announced that Moline Parks and Recreation is a recipient of a $50,000 Hometown Grant. The funding will be used to install a Musco Mini-Pitch Soccer System at Riverside Park, aiming to expand recreational opportunities for the city’s diverse population.

     

    The Moline project was one of 25 selected this quarter from more than 900 applicants nationwide, T-Mobile said in a news release Friday, Dec. 12. 

     

    Since 2021, T-Mobile has provided 19 Hometown Grants totaling nearly $850,000 across Illinois and 15 grants totaling more than $650,000 in Iowa.

     

    The community is invited to a check presentation event at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at the Moline City Services Center, 1830 6th Ave. It will be part of a holiday lunch and bingo event. 

     

    T-Mobile awards 25 Hometown Grants each quarter to small towns with populations of 50,000 or less. Since the program’s inception in 2021, T-Mobile has invested more than $20 million in grants to 450 communities across 48 states and Puerto Rico.

     

    The national program has generated:

    • 2,038 new jobs.
    • $106.3 million in matched funding from other organizations and companies.
    • 179,000 volunteer hours.
    • 2.6 million lives impacted.
    • $5.5 million for projects benefiting small business development.

    Organizations can apply for a Hometown Grant by visiting the T-Mobile website.
