YWCA Quad Cities is partnering with Tri-City Electric Co. to host an exciting opportunity for junior high and high school students to delve into the world of trades careers on Tuesday, May 7.
This special event s dubbed “Tri-City Day,” and will be from 5-8 p.m. at The Place2B, a youth drop-in program located at the new YWCA Quad Cities at 513 17th St,, Rock Island. Tri-City Day will offer students an immersive experience designed to showcase the diversity and importance of trades professions, the YWCA said in a news release.
Tri-City Day aims to inspire and educate students about the vast array of opportunities available in the trades industry. From electrical work to fire protection and from industrial machinery to working with steel, students will have the chance to explore various trades through demonstrations, hands-on activities, and informative sessions led by experts from Tri-City, Davenport.
“At The Place2B, we believe in empowering students to discover their passions and pursue fulfilling careers,” The Place2B Director Edwin Salazar said in the release. “Tri-City Day is an invaluable opportunity for students to gain firsthand insight into the world of trades, learn about different career paths, and connect with professionals who can offer guidance and mentorship.”
Throughout the event, students will have the chance to engage with representatives fromTri-City services, providing them with networking opportunities and valuable resources to kickstart their journey into the trades industry.
Additionally, attendees will learn about apprenticeship programs, certification requirements, and the potential for advancement within various trades professions.

The Place2B, a program of YWCA Quad Cities, is a drop-in center for youth ages 14-18.
