Slumberland Furniture is collaborating with the Quad Cities organization Bethany for Children and Families to provide gifts of bed sets to dozens of people this holiday season through its annual “Making Homes for the Holidays Program.”
The furniture store, with locations in Davenport and Moline, is donating 36 mattresses, frames and box springs to Bethany. The items were scheduled to be loaded into a truck at Slumberland’s Davenport location, 616 E. Kimberly Road, this morning, Dec. 16.
“It’s a great feeling to be able to give the gift of a good night’s sleep,” Slumberland store owner Lee Kerr said.
This marks the 14th year for the partnership program.
“This generous gift will warm the hearts and homes of 36 people in the Quad Cities this holiday season. Bethany will work with agency caseworkers to distribute the beds to clients in our homeless and child welfare programs,” said Christina McNamara-Schmidt, Bethany’s director of development and communication.
Founded in 1899, Bethany for Children and Families is a private child welfare, mental health, community education, and social services provider for children and families in western Illinois and eastern Iowa. Offering 25 programs and services, the Moline-based Bethany serves more than 11,500 children and families annually.
