Siegel to join Black Hawk College as VP for student services

James Siegel has been appointed vice president for student services for Black Hawk College.

Mr. Siegel will provide leadership in the areas of student engagement and student services. They include student life, recruitment, TRIO and tutoring, disabilities and access resources, counseling, financial aid and academic advising.

“I am thrilled to work with the great team of staff, faculty, administrators and community stakeholders to create an outstanding student experience and to support student success outcomes at the college,” Mr. Siegel said.

He brings more than 20 years of experience in higher education to his new role. He has held positions of assistant vice president of student services, associate vice president of student development and assistant dean for student success. His most recent role was serving as vice president for student services at Whatcom Community College, Bellingham, WA.

Mr. Siegel has a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration and a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the State University of New York at Binghamton.

Black Hawk College President Jeremy Thomas said, “We’re excited to have Dr. Siegel join the Black Hawk College family. He has a long history of helping students succeed through innovative programs and initiatives. James will be a great addition to our team as we continue our focus on student success.”

Mr. Siegel will assume his new responsibilities on July 1, 2024.
