Medic EMS has received a $75,000 grant from Scott County Regional Authority to install the Technimount System in its fleet of 19 ambulances in order to secure its cardiac monitors and ventilators during transport.

Medic EMS is the 911 emergency and nonemergency ambulance provider for Davenport, Bettendorf, northern Scott County and surrounding communities, and the nonemergency ambulance provider for the Illinois Quad Cities and Clinton, Iowa.

Citing statistics from the National Highway Safety Administration, Medic EMS said in a news release that more than 4,500 emergency vehicles are involved yearly in accidents. Injuries to EMS staff and patients during these crashes may be caused by unsecured equipment.

To address this danger, Medic EMS applied for the $75,000 SCRA grant to help fund the Technimount Systems for new ventilators and existing cardiac monitors, according to the release.

“Securing this equipment will not only protect our patients and staff members from injury, but also prevent damage to this new equipment, ensuring its operation to save lives,” the release states.

The mount system is currently in place for cardiac monitors, and the ventilator solutions are expected to be installed this fall.
