Modern Woodmen of America has appointed Sandra L. Stosz, Falmouth, Massachusetts, to its board of directors. Stosz fills the board position vacated upon the retirement of Sam H. Kupresin, Bettendorf, Iowa, at the end of last year.
During a 40-year career, retired U.S. Coast Guard Vice Admiral Sandra Stosz was the first woman to command an icebreaker on the Great Lakes and to lead a U.S. armed forces service academy. She served at sea for 12 years and finished her career as the first woman assigned as Deputy Commandant for Mission Support.
