The non-profit Safer Foundation has finalized the leadership transition for its Quad Cities offices.In late June, Brian Monroe became assistant director. He has been Safer’s resource development manager since February of 2021 and brings more than 40 years of marketing communications and business/resource development to his new role.Sue Davison, the director for the Quad Cities offices since 2004, stepped into a new role in December as program manager for Safer’s newest Department of Labor grant, which created the new I-MATTER program serving adults age 18-24.
Assistant Director Erica Lee was then promoted as director.Ms. Davison plans to retire at the I-MATTER program’s conclusion in December of 2024. “This move serves as a strategic blueprint to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of quality, high-level programming that under Sue’s leadership and guidance the Quad Cities office is recognized and known in the surrounding region,” said Victor Dickson, president and CEO for Safer Foundation, headquartered in Chicago.As director, Ms. Davison oversaw programs that eliminated barriers to success for individuals negatively impacted by the criminal legal system. She expanded services and Safer’s presence in the Quad Cities, forging strong partnerships to further Safer’s mission and reach.Working with headquarters, she expanded Safer’s capacity through major federal grants from the Departments of Education, Labor, and Justice. She also implemented local fundraisers including the signature 17-year-old “Safer Sacks” event.Ms. Lee was hired as assistant director office in 2018. She has been instrumental in developing new programs and innovative processes, training staff and improving quality-of-service delivery.Ms. Lee is a Master Level Social Worker (LMSW) with 15 years professional experience in criminal justice, child welfare and human services. She has worked with at-risk and marginalized populations in community-based and residential settings and has extensive knowledge in case management, resource coordination, crisis intervention and mental health services.“Erica is motivated to enrich the lives of all community members through person-centered, empowerment, trauma-informed, and strength-based approaches...,” said Mr. Dickson. “I know that Erica, Sue, and Brian will continue to be a strong team and leaders for Safer in the Quad Cities. They will persist in shining a light on a road to a better future, offering opportunities to all our participants,” he added.

I-MATTER at a glance
I-MATTER, a program of Safer Foundation Quad Cities, provides job training and educational opportunities.
Eligibility:
Individuals age 18-24.
Currently or previously involved with the criminal justice system or those who have not been involved with the justice system, but left high school prior to graduation.
Reside in qualifying areas of Rock Island County or Scott County.
Orientation sessions:
Every second Tuesday, 9:30 a.m., Work Release Center, 605 N. Main St., Davenport
Every fourth Tuesday, 9:30 a.m., American Job Center, 500 42nd St., Suite 4, Rock Island.
