Russell, the longtime Quad Cities construction company,  announced today it is once again expanding its national footprint with the acquisition of Springfield, Missouri-based O’Reilly Build.

According to Russell,  the acquisition will establish the company’s fourth national office. O’Reilly Build is a commercial general contractor delivering boutique construction solutions with a nationwide reach. To date, O’Reilly Build has constructed more than 3.1 million square feet of sustainable, efficient projects across the country.

The company will operate under the name of Russell effective immediately, President Caitlin Russell told the QCBJ in an interview.

“It’s a good company and I have no doubt it will be a good venture for both Russell and O’Reilly Build,” she added.

In a news release, Russell said the new acquisition further strengthens its growing construction and development firm.

The milestone also marks the third acquisition in five years for Russell, which was founded in Bettendorf in 1983 by Jim Russell. The company first branched out into the St. Louis market in 2020 and expanded into Kansas City in 2022

The O’Reilly Build deal, which has been in the works since late last year, closed on Monday, April 28, the company leader said. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

With additional resources from Russell and the 15-person team O’Reilly Build brings,  Ms. Russell  anticipates the team will be able to leverage even more projects across the market and beyond.

“We are thrilled to continue the O’Reilly Build legacy with their team, clients, and trade

partners,” she said in the release. “O’Reilly team members joining Russell fits with our continued growth strategy to hire great talent and build relationships alongside them.”

The combined team is already working together on a large housing project in Springfield, Missouri, that will break ground later this spring.

According to Ms. Russell, the Springfield, Missouri, market really had not been on the company’s radar as an expansion market. “But it makes sense because it is in between our Kansas City and St. Louis offices and keeps us in the same region,” she told the QCBJ.

“We are extremely excited to join the Russell team. Russell and O’Reilly Build combining strengthens both teams and benefits our clients,” Steve Monsanto, one of the founders of O’Reilly Build, said in the release. “We look forward to serving the Springfield region and beyond with expanded services and a deep bench of talented team members across Russell’s four Offices.”
