
Royal Neighbors of America, Rock Island, has awarded college scholarships to four Quad Cities area students as part of its commitment to “Insurance with a Difference.”
This year’s recipients are:
- Gerald Callahan of Bettendorf, attending the University of St. Thomas.
- Clayton Matkovic of Sherrard, Illinois, attending Monmouth College.
- Emma Pearson of Davenport, attending the University of Iowa.
- Lauryn VanWinkle of Viola, Illinois, attending Eastern Kentucky University.
Royal Neighbors said applicants submitted essays reflecting on personal experiences, community involvement and social issues. The program aims to foster servant leaders who contribute through action and advocacy. Eligibility is open to beneficial members demonstrating leadership potential, academic achievement and a passion for service.
“Our members are role models in their communities, and our scholarship program helps lift their aspirations,” Amy Jones, Royal Neighbors’ director of social impact, said in a news release Thursday, June 26. “By investing in their education, we’re investing in a future shaped by compassion, resilience, and social good.”
Since its inception in 1961, the scholarship program has distributed more than $5 million in educational funding nationwide. According to Royal Neighbors, the program aligns with its mission to “Insure Lives, Support Women, and Serve Communities.”Â
