When it comes to creating and selling jewelry, Amanda Frazer has her own style.

That style often revolves around getting to know the customer and their jewelry desires.

“This is an experience. … I sit down and have a casual conservation with people and find out what they want. I have couples come in together,” said Ms. Frazer, who is a jewelry designer and recently opened a design studio for her business, Rosalee Jewelry located in downtown Davenport at 221 E. Second St.

“Starting Rosalee Jewelry has allowed me to work one-on-one with people celebrating special moments in their lives, Ms. Frazer said on her business website. “I love helping them find a way to symbolize such beautiful occasions while also sharing my knowledge and passion for jewelry.”

The Rosalee Jewelry studio celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, May 20. The event gave customers and potential customers a chance to look over the jewelry collection, try on a few sparkly items, enjoy refreshments of cookies and rum punch and ask questions.

Those who attended the event had positive comments about the Jewelry and Ms. Frazer’s personal style.

“I think this is great. She has a market that nobody else has,” said Jan West of Davenport, one of the first customers to visit the Rosalee Jewelry business studio on Saturday.

Ms. West and others spent part of the time looking over a unique jewelry display case that allows people to mix and match different stones. It features a magnetic engagement ring builder that lets customers attach various center stones and create a ring that best works for them. ( A video of the magnetic ring builder can be found here.)

In addition to creating wedding rings and items for other special events in life, Ms. Frazer said another big part of her business is restyling family heirloom jewelry. Sometimes that means taking diamonds from jewelry owned by a grandmother and creating a unique piece for today’s generation.

On the Rosalee Jewelry Facebook page, Ms. Frazer told this story about creating new memories from older jewelry:

My customer came to me after her husband passed away, wanting to make something with their wedding set. After talking, I learned about their love of camping and their two kids. We came up with an idea to use the two wedding bands to make a compass with her engagement diamond being in the center. We created a contrasting white gold compass piece to fit into the wedding bands and the birthstones for her, her husband, and their two kids in the compass points.”

Ms. Frazer’s business studio has been in place for a few months. She has this advice for others who are considering starting their own business: “Just go for it. It’s scary and overwhelming, but you have to go for it,” she added.

Ms. Frazer sees customers by appointment. For more information on Rosalee Jewelry, email Ms. Frazer at rosaleejewelry@gmail.com or phone (563) 484-4856.
