The Rock Island Public Library is offering a fun incentive to beat the winter blues and stick to New Year’s reading resolutions with the “Escape to Book Island” Winter Reading Challenge.

The challenge runs from Monday, Jan. 12, through Saturday, Feb. 21, and is open to all ages, including preschoolers, school children, teens, and adults.

The simple bingo card challenge encourages reading and library visits throughout the winter. Participants can register online or pick up paper forms to track reading and activity milestones. Reading time is cumulative, and all formats count, including print books, eBooks, audiobooks, illustrated novels, comic books, and bedtime stories. Read-to-me time for preschoolers counts toward the goals of both the parent and child.

Readers who complete a bingo line win a completion prize. Those who fill the entire card will be entered into a special bonus drawing. Prizes can be picked up at any Rock Island Public Library location by Saturday, Feb. 28.

For more details and to sign up via Beanstack, visit the library’s website or https://rockislandlibrary.beanstack.org/.
