Rock Island Art Guild, Figge put out call for exhibit entries

The Rock Island Art Guild and Figge Art Museum have announced they are seeking entries from artists across the Quad Cities region for inclusion in the 43rd Rock Island Art Guild Fine Arts Exhibition.

The exhibit will be on view at the Figge, located at 225 W. Second St. in downtown Davenport from Feb. 17 to June 16, 2024.

The Rock Island Art Guild was founded in 1955 by a group of individuals who wanted to cultivate an active interest in local and regional artists while promoting and fostering the appreciation of the visual arts in the Quad Cities.

According to a news release, artists living within 200 miles of the Figge Art Museum working in any medium – including performance, sound, video, digital art, painting, sculpture, mixed media and works on paper – are encouraged to apply for the new exhibition.

Awards will be given for first and second place as well as several other categories. Exhibition juror Mia Laufer, associate curator at the Des Moines Art Center, will select the works in the exhibition as well as the award winners.

Artists may submit up to three works for consideration. The cost is $35 per application fee.

Deadline for submissions is Friday, Dec. 15, and artists will be notified about the selections by Jan. 10, 2024.
