The SouthPark Mall Pantry in Moline, operated by River Bend Food Bank, has announced extended hours for Tuesday, Nov. 25, to help residents prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, significantly longer than its regular 2-6:30 p.m. hours.
The pantry will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27.
“We’re adjusting the SouthPark pantry schedule to ensure we can serve guests and provide food in advance of the Thanksgiving holiday,” said Chris Ford, River Bend’s president and CEO.
The schedule change is part of the food bank’s ongoing efforts to assist individuals and families impacted by the recent government shutdown and SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) freeze.
“The federal shutdown and SNAP freeze inspired an outpouring of support from our community,” he added. “River Bend Food Bank is committed to utilizing our resources most effectively to fight hunger in our community and making responsive changes when our guests need it.”
Earlier this month, the food bank distributed about 600 boxes of food during an emergency event at SouthPark, a day when the regular pantry was closed for Veterans Day.
Regular River Bend Food Bank pantry hours are:
- SouthPark Mall: 2-6:30 p.m. Tuesday; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.
- NorthPark Mall: 2-6:30 p.m. Monday; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday
