Reception to showcase Davenport city administrator finalists

Davenport election primary city administrator

The City of Davenport will host a public reception for the community to meet the finalists for the city’s new administrator from  5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, in the Grand Lobby of the Figge Art Museum in downtown Davenport.

The city has worked with an executive search firm to recruit qualified candidates from across the country. Finalists will be invited to Davenport on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 9-10, to participate in the next phase of the recruitment process, including interviews, community tours, and the candidate reception.

The names of those finalists had not been released by city officials at this writing.

The reception will be an open-house style event, and light refreshments will be provided. Information about each city administrator candidate will be available at the event.

The City of Davenport has been without a permanent administrator since last year when then City Administrator Corri Spiegel left the position. In November, the city announced it would pay Ms. Spiegel $1.6 million for lost wages and “emotional pain and suffering.”

Mallory Merritt was named interim administrator soon after that. Ms. Merritt, who has served the City of Davenport for 11 years acting in various roles within the organization, announced her resignation from the post.

Nicole Gleason, the city’s public works director, was named “acting city administrator” early this month.
