Quad Cities Area Family Fair set for Aug. 12

The Quad Cities Area Family Fair is just around the corner. Find it from 9 a.m. to noon on  Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Veterans Memorial Park Pavilion, Bettendorf. Admission is free.

Sponsored by Tyson and IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union, the event also is co-hosted by Hand in Hand and GiGi’s Playhouse. It will feature more than 20 vendors offering resources about fall programs, volunteer opportunities, information about adaptive sports and recreational programs, therapeutic programs and activities, inclusive young adult activities and more. 

The fair brings together numerous resources for families with special needs, according to a news release from Hand in Hand. It is geared toward families of all ages and abilities. 

Vendors include: Hand in Hand; GIGi’s Playhouse; The Arc of the Quad Cities Area; Augustana College Roseman Center for Speech, Language, and Hearing; Birth to Five Illinois; Brain Injury Alliance – Quad Cities Chapter; Child Care Resource and Referral; Child Care Resource and Referral of Midwestern Illinois; Davenport Parks and Recreation; Genesis Outpatient Pediatric Therapy Center; Handicapped Development Center; Individual Advocacy Group; Iowa and Illinois Challenger League Baseball; Maxim Healthcare Services; Putnam Museum and Science Center; Quad Cities Music Therapy; Quad City Sled Hockey Association; SAL Community Services; Scott County Special Olympics; Special Olympics Illinois and Special Olympics Illinois Region F. 

The fair’s goal is to raise awareness of the Quad Cities’ resources in one convenient location. The event also will include a free music therapy class from Quad Cities Music Therapy at 10 a.m. on the stage.
