QCT Bix 7 unveils 50th logo, adds TAG as sponsor

Moline boys basketball takes on United Township on Wednesday, February 21, in East Moline.

The iconic logo of the Quad-City Times Bix 7 is taking on a special look for its historic 50th year this summer.

The design is the work of TAG Communications Inc., which has joined the Bix 7 as its newest Platinum sponsor. The partnership was announced last week at the Quad-City Times, the annual race’s title sponsor, as the logo for the historic 50th year was unveiled by Race Director Michelle Juehring and Mike Vondran, chief executive officer of TAG.

“The award-winning TAG team delivered an amazing logo and vision for our golden year,” Ms. Juehring said. “We are thrilled to have them join us as a major sponsor and creative leader for this landmark year.”

TAG is a multi-state marketing and advertising agency based in downtown Davenport and founded by Mr. Vondran in 1990.

“Since our beginning 34 years ago, TAG has strived to serve the Quad-City community as an eager, helpful citizen,” Mr. Vondran said. “So to help advance this wonderful event fits exactly with our team’s culture.”

Also helping unveil the 50th look were Race Director Emeritus Ed Froehlich and Iowa Newspaper Association Executive Director Debbie Anselm – who both serve on the planning committee for the Bix 7 50th Celebration with Ms. Juehring.

“As Ed and I say at every opportunity throughout the community,” Ms. Anselm said, “the Quad-City Times Bix 7 means so very much to the entire region. It lifts our spirits, brings families and old friends together, sparks commerce, drives tourism and, whether we’re runners or walkers, makes us all a little more healthy.”

The 50th running of the Quad-City Times Bix 7 takes place at 8 a.m., Saturday, July 27, in downtown Davenport. Online registration is open at bix7.com.

Along with the Quad-City Times as title sponsor, Bix 7 is hosted by the Cornbelt Running Club. TAG becomes the sixth Platinum Sponsor, joining Genesis, Isle Casino Hotel Bettendorf, Premier Buick GMC Dealers, Russell and Scott County Regional Authority.
