QCHC celebrates 25 years of affordable housing solutions

The Quad Cities Housing Council (QCHC) will host a 25th anniversary celebration honoring a quarter-century of collaborative efforts to address housing needs in the Quad Cities.

The theme of the 4:30-7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, party at Mercado on Fifth is “Still Partnering Like It’s 1999,” QCHC said in a news release announcing the open house at 423 12th St., Moline.

The event also will wrap up QCHC’s year-long “Housing Matters QC” awareness campaign, which reflects QCHC’s ongoing commitment to building partnerships that make housing accessible, safe, and affordable for all.

The celebration is free and open to the public. No RSVP is required.

Guests can enjoy light refreshments, live music, and a cash bar featuring a special signature drink. Free drink tickets will be available to the first 100 guests.

The QCHC is charged with promoting, coordinating and building the capacity of housing development throughout the Quad Cities. It also serves as the resource development arm of the Quad Cities Housing Cluster, which also tracks statistics to quantify the region’s housing shortage. As the local Housing Trust Fund, QCHC also is able to serve bi-state entities.

Since its founding in 1999, the Quad Cities Housing Council has partnered with local organizations, businesses, and community members to tackle housing challenges in the region. Together, they have addressed critical issues such as affordable housing shortages, housing stability, and eviction prevention, ensuring that Housing Matters for everyone in the Quad Cities.

“This celebration is about honoring the incredible partnerships we’ve built and the work that’s been done over the past 25 years,” Leslie Kilgannon, director of the QCHC said in the release. “We invite the entire community to join us as we reflect on our progress and look toward building even stronger solutions for the future.”

Whether you’ve been a part of QCHC’s journey from the beginning or are just learning about its work, the news release said, all are welcome to come together to connect, celebrate, and be part of a community that’s committed to building a brighter future.
